Assembly/Use Tips for
Scootworks Brake Hose Kits

These instructions are not all inclusive, there are simply too many accessories and variations in manufacture of motorcycles to cover every possible alternative. However, we've attempted to compile a short list of info for the assembly and use of our Scootworks Front Brake Hose Kits.

Kit Contents

  • Kits for bikes with a single front brake caliper (like the Yamaha V-Star 650) contains a pair of banjo bolts, a copper washer kit, and a single brake hose. The single brake hose may have the banjo ends installed, or the kit may be supplied with the ends separately (to be screwed on by the customer during installation). This single brake hose will reach from the handlebar mounted master cylinder to the brake caliper mounted on the front fork leg. Be sure to install a copper washer on each side of both banjos during installation. This provides the high pressure seal for the hydraulic connection.

  • Kits for bikes with dual front brake calipers that have the hoses CRIMPED to the "Y" manifold under the lower triple tree (like the Yamaha V-Star 1100, RoadStar 1600/1700, etc) contains 2 short banjo bolts, one long banjo bolt, a copper washer kit, and two brake hoses. The brake hoses may have the banjo ends installed, or the kit may be supplied with the ends separately (to be screwed on by the customer during installation). This dual brake hose kit will reach from the handlebar mounted master cylinder to the brake calipers mounted on the front fork leg. The longer hose will be installed on the LH caliper, the shorter hose will be installed on the RH caliper. Use the long banjo bolt to connect the two hoses to the handlebar mounted master cylinder, with the parts connected to the master cylinder in this order (from the master cylinder outward):

1- master cylinder, 2- copper washer, 3- straight banjo end, 4-, copper washer, 5- 35 degree banjo end (offset banjo), 6- copper washer, 7- long banjo bolt.

Install the 35 degree banjo ends (offset banjos) on the caliper ends of the brake hoses, and attach to the caliper. Be sure to install a copper washer on each side of these banjos during installation. This provides the high pressure seal for the hydraulic connection.

  • Kits for SELECT bikes with dual front brake calipers that have the hoses BOLTED to the "Y" manifold under the lower triple tree (like the Vulcan Nomad 1500 & 1600) contains a copper washer kit, and one brake hose section. The brake hose may have the banjo ends installed, or the kit may be supplied with the ends separately (to be screwed on by the customer during installation). This brake hose extension kit will reach from the handlebar mounted master cylinder to the "Y" manifold located on the lower triple tree. Be sure to install a copper washer on each side of these banjos during installation. This provides the high pressure seal for the hydraulic connection.
