The Engineering Dept at WB4IUY

[bullet] I've been building, repairing, restoring, and/or collecting amateur radio equipment since age 14. In the relm of technical interests, radio has always been my first "love". In 1974, with the help of my dad, I began an adventure that is still going strong and is of more interest than ever to me. The following are pictures of my workbenches and various projects I currently have under way.

[workbench pic]

[bullet] My workbench is taylored more towards analog/RF repair, with the ability to generate in range of 1 ghz synthesized or 40 ghz analog multiplied. RF Measurements and analysis to 40 ghz are possible, counting to > 1 ghz, DC or AC to approx 50 KV.

[bullet] Like most facilities, the Engineering Staff at WB4IUY is constantly within a state of "flux" and consequently may routinely change in appearance and/or opinion. Your milage may vary.

[bullet] More pictures:

[bullet] Here's a homebrew Repeater Controller that I designed. It's purely analog, and provides 20 seconds of voice memory for ID's and messages; configurable courtesy tone generator; pre-tone, tone duration, timeout and hang timers; buffered COS and PTT connections as well as on-board audio gating. This was one of those "engineered-on-the-fly" projects, hi!

[bullet] This is a set of UHF Duplexers that I just finished modifying. They were orininally used in another service. I disassembled these and modified the internals to move them into the UHF 70cm amateur band. These are set up as "band pass" cavaties.

[bullet] This is a set of 220 Duplexers that I just finished modifying. They were orininally used in another service. I also disassembled these and modified the internals to move them into the UHF 1.25m amateur band. These are set up as "band pass" cavaties.

[bullet] This is a new Repeater under construction.

[bullet] Here are the tubes for my new HF Amplifier project. The big tubes are 4-1000's, and that's what I'm using in my new amp. There is a 3-500 in the picture to give a you a point of reference for the size of 4-1000's. They are beautiful tubes!
