The following Field Rules are conveniently posted on the building located adjacent to the spectator shelter at the RDRC Flying Field, in the event you should have a question about them while at the field. These are provided to help provide a safe flying site for all to enjoy. The guidelines are as follow:

1. General Rules

--> No flying of any type aircraft before 9:00 AM. During normal operations, be a good neighbor and adhere to this rule. Sanctioned events are exempt.

--> SUNDAY: No flying on SUNDAY of engine powered aircraft before 11:30 AM. Electric aircraft are permitted after 9:00 AM. Sanctioned events are exempt.

--> All flying operations will be conducted in accordance with the current AMA Safety Code

--> All flyers must have a current AMA License.

--> All flyers must be a member of RDRC, or guest of a current RDRC member. Exception, see AMA sanctioned events, below.

[RDRC Field Rules]

--> Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

--> All transmitters must be operated as defined in the AMA Membership Manual.

--> All transmitters must display a frequency indicator (channel number placard or colored flags), as specified in the AMA Radio Control Utilization Plan. It is suggested that the owners name, address and phone number be affixed to the transmitter.

--> All transmitters must be placed in the transmitter impound upon arrival at the field. Transmitters shall not be removed from the impound unless the frequency pin is attached to the transmitter and RDRC club membership card (or AMA card for non-member guests) is placed in appropriate slot in impound. This INCLUDES ALL FREQUENCIES 27 MHZ, 72 MHZ, 6 METERS, and all spread spectrum radios on 2.4 ghz. All transmitters in the impound must be turned off, and no transmitter can be turned on without the related frequency pin.

--> All engines should be equipped with a muffler or exhaust header. No open exhaust permitted, except engines smaller than .09 cu.in. While there is no noise standard at the field at this time, the IMAA recommendation of 98dB @ 9 meters (27 feet) is recommended. Also, any aircraft that is obviously excessively noisy should refrain from operation. SAM type aircraft using limited engine runs are excepted from this rule. Be a good neighbor!

2. AMA Sanctioned Events

--> When an AMA or IMAA sanctioned event is held at the field, all flying operations will be restricted to registered participants. The flight line will under the control of the Contest Director or his representative. Unless specifically approved by the CD, all provisions of these Field Rules will be in effect.

3. Flight Line

--> No more than 5 aircraft are allowed in the air at one time from the main flight line. Flying in the alternate flight area is exempt from this rule.

--> Always get the right frequency pin before taking a transmitter from the impound. Don't hog the frequency. Be ready to fly when you take the pin. Return the pin and the transmitter, turned off, to the impound area after the flight. Observe common courtesy. Be sure the pin is replaced to the proper place.

--> Aircraft that are landing, have priority. Deadstick landings have emergency priority. Pilots should LOUDLY announce their needs/intentions if they desire priority.

--> Flight behind the flight line is to be avoided. Do not over fly the pits, spectator area, the parking lot, or local housing.

--> Pilots should stand at one of the pilots' stations while flying. These are identified by white barriers and flat concrete pads. Flying in the alternate flight area is exempt from this rule.

--> The use of a spotter is encouraged during times of heavy traffic.

--> Take off and landing should be done into the wind. When there is light wind or no wind, the preferred direction is toward the south (from left to right when facing the runway). Always follow the prevailing traffic pattern. Emergencies overrule this requirement, simply announce your needs and/or intentions LOUDLY to other pilots.

--> If desired the cross wind runway may used, but note that the south end of the pit area is in line with the cross wind runway.

4. Pit Area

--> The pit area is that area in front of a line defined by the front the shelter and the flight line.

--> Only pilots and their assistants should be in the pit area. Spectators may enter the pit area only when accompanied by a RDRC member.

--> Observe the rules of common courtesy and common sense in the pits. Do not blow your prop wash onto other airplanes. Do not take up more space than needed. When running engines be sure that the airplane is secured or held by a helper, and that the radio system in on and operating properly.

--> Taxiing in the pits is to be held to a minimum. Do not taxi behind active pilots on the flight line. DO NOT taxi into the pit area.

--> The picnic tables are not considered part of the pits and are not to used as workbenches.

5. Recommended Flight Rules

--> High speed or heavy aircraft should operate well to the east of the runway, and avoid making turns toward the flight line. These should also avoid over flying the pits, spectator area, and parking lot.

--> Helicopters should use the area south of the shelter.

--> Do not over fly the houses located northwest or southwest of the flight line.

--> Tow line or high start gliders should coordinate their operations with other flyers to avoid interference and tangles.
